Horrific scenes unfolded across the city as vehicles and pedestrians struggled to move through flooded streets. Areas such as Motijheel, Arambagh, Rajarbagh, Moghbazar, Shantinagar, and Mouchak were covered with knee-deep water, while Hatirjheel also saw significant water accumulation. Important roads in Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Mohammadpur, Asadgate, New Market, Mirpur-10, and Sheorapara were inundated, leading to long traffic jams. In some areas, waist-deep water forced traffic movement to a complete standstill.

The situation was particularly chaotic at bus stands and alleyways, where people were stranded in waterlogged conditions. Many were compelled to walk through knee-deep water as buses could not operate. Even where rickshaws and CNG-powered auto-rickshaws were available, fares doubled due to demand. Office workers and students expressed frustration and despair over the high transport costs and lack of mobility.

According to the Meteorological Department, Dhaka recorded 34 millimeters of rainfall in just six hours, from midnight to 6 am today.

The weather forecast predicts that the sky will remain cloudy over Dhaka and surrounding areas, with intermittent rain and thundershowers throughout the day. The Met Office added that this continuous rainfall may help reduce daytime temperatures slightly.
