According to locals, floodwaters entered residential areas, submerging multiple homes and forcing families to halt cooking activities and seek shelter elsewhere. The flood has inundated several low-lying areas, including Dakshin Baroiya, Bijoypur, Basantapur, Fatehpur, and Bashikhpur.

The floodwaters also entered the Fulgazi market, damaging goods in several shops and causing significant financial losses for local traders.

In neighboring Parshuram upazila, river water similarly entered residential areas after breaching the embankment, intensifying the crisis for local residents.

Akter Hossain Mazumder, Executive Engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in Feni, stated that while the current water level of the Muhuri River remains below the danger mark, several portions of the embankment are still at risk. “The situation worsened after a breach occurred at a specific point in Uttar Baroiya,” he said.

Residents have urged the local administration to take immediate and effective measures to repair the embankment and prevent further flooding, as concerns grow over the possibility of additional breaches amid ongoing rainfall.
