The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon during a funeral service on the west side of Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
Eyewitnesses said that a large number of people gathered before the funeral began. At one point, when the pressure of the crowd increased, Nirab Hossain (56) felt unwell. He later fell to the ground. People around him tried to rescue him and quickly take him to a nearby hospital. However, he died on the way.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Md. Sharif said that the man named Nirab Hossain died while attending the funeral of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. There was a huge crowd of people during the funeral. And the deceased was sick.
