Shairul Kabir Khan, an official of the BNP Chairperson’s media wing, said that Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment under the close observation of a medical board since her admission to Evercare Hospital.

He added that he spoke with her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, who confirmed that the medical board is closely monitoring her condition and treatment progress.

Khaleda Zia has requested prayers from the nation, seeking a swift recovery by the grace of the Almighty.

The BNP Chairperson was admitted to Evercare Hospital around 8 pm on Sunday. She is currently under the care of specialist physician Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.

After her admission, several diagnostic tests were conducted, following which the medical board, chaired by Professor Talukder, convened to determine the next steps in her treatment.

The board included Professor FM Siddiqui, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Ziaul Haque, Dr. Mamun Ahmed, retired Brigadier General Saiful Islam, and Dr. Zubaida Rahman (participating virtually from London), along with specialist doctors from Johns Hopkins Hospital in the United States.

Professor FM Siddiqui stated, “Madam’s treatment has begun as per the unanimous decision of the medical board.”

He noted that Khaleda Zia had been experiencing recurrent infections in recent months. “She has been suffering from frequent infections. The reason for admitting her today is that she is dealing with multiple complications at once, including a chest infection,” he added.

Khaleda Zia, 79, has long been suffering from chronic health issues, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, and eye-related complications.
