The figures were disclosed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the DGHS on Wednesday (October 29).

From 8 am on Tuesday (October 28) to 8 am on Wednesday (October 29), 190 new dengue patients were admitted in the Dhaka division — including 145 in Dhaka South City Corporation and 239 in Dhaka North City Corporation.

Outside Dhaka, 114 cases were reported in Barishal division, 88 in Chattogram, 66 in Rajshahi, 51 in Mymensingh, 50 in Khulna, 16 in Rangpur, and 5 in Sylhet division, the release added.

The DGHS report said that two people—one each from Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations—died of dengue in the last 24 hours.

With the latest fatalities, the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 has risen to 275, according to DGHS data.

The DGHS report also highlighted the persistent threat of dengue in Bangladesh. In 2024, a total of 1,11,214 people were infected and 575 died of the mosquito-borne disease.

The previous year, in 2023, Bangladesh saw its deadliest dengue outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalizations.

Public health experts have warned that dengue continues to pose a serious health risk, particularly in densely populated urban areas, and called for stronger mosquito control and public awareness campaigns to prevent further outbreaks.
