He made the statement in response to a question from reporters on Monday (September 22) afternoon.

Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir said, “Amid the pet quota issue and the complete shutdown of teachers, officials, and employees, there are no students on campus. Most of them have already gone home. In such circumstances, it is not possible to hold the Raksu elections on September 25 in a fair and democratic manner. I demand that the elections be held after the Puja so they can be festive and acceptable.”

After 35 years, the much-anticipated Raksu elections are scheduled to be held on September 25. The two most discussed contenders in this election are the Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Following the DUCSU and JACSU polls, Chhatra Dal has stepped into the Raksu race with hopes of ushering in a new chapter. Alongside presenting a strategic panel, the organization is working to gain the trust of ordinary students through various campaigns.

On September 7, Chhatra Dal announced its full panel of candidates for 23 posts at a program held at the university’s central Shaheed Minar. The panel includes leaders and activists with a “clean image,” as well as students recognized for their achievements in academics, sports, and culture. Among them are national team footballers, Rajshahi football team goalkeepers, first-year students, band founders, and Dean’s Award-winning students. Four female candidates, including one vying for a top-three position, are also part of the panel.

According to campus sources, VP candidate Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir is widely regarded as a humble and approachable student. His positive activities and leadership qualities have earned him acceptance among the general student body. He has emphasized the importance of ensuring students’ rights and equality and remains active in campaigning.
