The ministry confirmed the development in an official press release issued on Saturday night (October 18).
According to the statement, the fire at the Cargo Village, which broke out around 2:15 PM, has been brought completely under control through the quick and coordinated efforts of the Fire Service and airport authorities. No casualties have been reported in connection with the incident.
The release said, “Close coordination is being maintained between the Fire Service and the airport authorities to ensure that the fire is fully extinguished. All flight operations will resume from 9 PM.”
It added that the advisor to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism is personally present at the airport, closely monitoring the situation. The ministry is also working in close coordination with all relevant agencies to restore normal operations smoothly.
An investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the fire, and necessary measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, the statement said.
The ministry expressed gratitude to passengers and the general public for their patience and cooperation during the temporary suspension of flights.
Earlier in the day, flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were temporarily halted following the fire outbreak in the Cargo Village area.
