The EC Secretary told the media on Friday (December 5) evening. Akhtar Ahmed said that no decision has been made regarding the schedule so far. When someone announces the date, they are doing various calculations and announcing the date on their own will and responsibility. He said that responsible behavior is expected from the media in the changing situation of the country.
Incidentally, various media reports are saying that the election schedule may be announced on December 11. Some are also announcing the election date in February.
Meanwhile, the EC will hold a formal meeting next Sunday to discuss the schedule for the next parliamentary elections.
In addition, the EC has sent a letter to the President to discuss the announcement of the schedule. The organization sent this letter on Thursday (December 4) to arrange for this meeting on December 10 or 11.
President Md. Shahabuddin has reportedly set the date for the meeting on December 10 at 12 noon in response to the EC's letter.
