The arrests took place in three separate raids across the Selangor and Johor provinces since April 24. Saifuddin confirmed that the group of individuals were known to be promoting extremist ideologies connected to the Islamic State (IS).

The Home Minister revealed that the accused had formed a cell aimed at spreading extremist beliefs within their own community, collecting funds to support terrorist activities, and working toward the goal of overthrowing the government of Bangladesh.

Saifuddin Nasitan Ismail emphasized that Malaysia will not tolerate foreign extremist movements and that threats to the country's national security would be addressed with the utmost seriousness. He also stated that Malaysia would take strong and decisive action against any attempts to use the country as a base for terrorist operations or as a transit hub for extremist groups.
