The announcement was made during a joint press conference held at the Al-Falah Auditorium in the capital’s Moghbazar area on Sunday (November 16). The conference was organized to reiterate the eight parties’ five-point demands.
Addressing the press, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, “Eight parties, including Jamaat, were on the ground before to resist the Awami League’s sabotage. We will be there again tomorrow.”
He urged the government to remove public doubts regarding the referendum, stating, “Our top leaders have reviewed the Chief Advisor’s speech to the nation. The review concluded that while the speech partially reflected the people's hopes, there are still uncertainties that must be addressed.”
Golam Parwar stressed the need for clarity on the July Charter, saying, “I urge the Chief Advisor to remove the ambiguities immediately. The justification for holding a referendum was clearly stated by the eight parties before the election, but the Chief Advisor's proposal to hold both the national election and the referendum on the same day has raised doubts among the public. The government must dispel these doubts.”
While appreciating the government's partial acceptance of the parties’ demands, he added, “The reforms outlined in the July Charter, based on the consensus of the protesting parties, have been legally recognized. We appreciate the government's step in this regard.”
Leaders from the eight parties also emphasized that the government must actively campaign in favor of the referendum, noting, “If any political force campaigns against the referendum, the nation will reject them.”
