The decision was confirmed in an official letter signed by Md. Nazmul Kabir, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, on Sunday (October 12).

According to the letter, the EC reviewed investigation reports submitted by central, district, and upazila election officials regarding the registration applications of new political parties. However, the commission observed that many of the reports were incomplete and lacked clear comments on the parties’ activities and organizational structure.

“Since the initial information and opinions received from the field level were incomplete in some cases, and the reports lacked adequate comments, the commission has decided to conduct a further investigation into the existence and activities of 10 political parties at the district and upazila levels,” the letter stated.

The re-verification process will be conducted under the supervision of a deputy secretary, an additional regional election officer, and an additional district election officer from each relevant region. These teams will examine the existence, activities, and organizational strength of the following 10 political parties: Aam Janata Dal, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Party (BGP), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Bangladesh Justice and Development Party, Bhashani Janashakti Party, Bangladesh Bekar Mukti Parishad, Janatar Dal, Maulik Bangla, Janata Party Bangladesh, Bangladesh Aam Janata Party.

The EC Secretariat has instructed officials to submit comprehensive findings following the renewed field inquiry to ensure accuracy and transparency in the party registration process.

Officials said the move reflects the commission’s cautious approach in verifying political parties’ authenticity and compliance before granting registration ahead of the upcoming national elections.
