On Sunday (December 7) evening, the CEC—along with Election Commissioners Abdur Rahman El Machud, Tahmida Ahmed, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar, Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah, and EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed—met the Chief Advisor at the State Guest House Jamuna. During the meeting, they updated him on the overall progress of election-related work.

National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Principal Secretary to the Chief Advisor M Siraj Uddin Mia were also present.

During the briefing, CEC Nasir Uddin informed the Chief Advisor that preparations for conducting the national elections and the referendum on the same day in the first half of February are progressing smoothly. He said the Election Commission is fully prepared to hold both polls in a fair and orderly manner.

The CEC and other commissioners expressed their gratitude to the Chief Advisor for extending full cooperation to the commission during the preparatory phase. Nasir Uddin also conveyed his thanks—through the Chief Advisor—to members of the law enforcement agencies and the armed forces for their continued support.

He noted that citizens across the country are already engaging in election-related activities, contributing to a growing electoral atmosphere.

Expressing satisfaction over the EC’s progress, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring fair and impartial elections.

“The government will continue to provide all kinds of support to the Election Commission in the interest of free and fair elections,” he said.

“You (EC) are in the driver’s seat in this long-awaited election for the nation. We must reach the desired goal,” he added.

The Chief Advisor emphasized that the interim government is determined to deliver a fair and transparent election, adding, “We are moving forward to give the nation the best election in history in the first half of February.”
