On Sunday (January 18) evening, a delegation led by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met with the Chief Advisor at the State Guest House Jamuna. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Mia Ghulam Parwar and Rafiqul Islam Khan also participated in the delegation. The Chief Advisor said these things during this time.
Among the advisors present at the time were Planning Advisor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Industry, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Roads, Bridges and Railways.
The meeting discussed various issues related to the elections. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders said that the election campaign will start in full swing from January 22. Jamaat-e-Islami has already started campaigning for a 'yes' vote in the referendum; they said that two campaigns will run side by side from January 22.
Jamaat-e-Islami leaders drew the attention of the chief advisor to several election-related issues.
The chief advisor said, "We have to hold good elections no matter what. Please let us know any urgent information, complaints or opinions related to the elections. We will immediately bring it to the attention of the Election Commission; if the government has any action to take, we will take it."
Stating that the polling stations will be brought under the control of CCTV cameras very soon, he said, "Most of the centers will have CCTV cameras. These will be installed by January. In centers where there is a risk, the responsible officials will have body cameras. All these will be monitored from the control room. There will be footage records so that action can be taken as soon as any unwanted incident occurs."
Regarding the government's campaign for a 'yes' vote in the referendum, Dr. Yunus said, "Some are asking whether the government's campaign for a 'yes' vote in the referendum is legal or not, but we have confirmed after talking to everyone concerned that there is no legal obstacle to it. The responsibility of the interim government formed through a popular uprising is to advocate for reforms."
The chief advisor said that steps will be taken to resolve disputes arising at the local level during the elections with the participation of representatives of all political parties and relevant stakeholders so that effective measures can be taken. In addition, a hotline number will be operational during the elections, where all types of complaints will be received.
He called on everyone to unite and work for the country, regardless of victory or defeat in the election.
