Her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed the information on Thursday. He said both local and foreign specialists on the medical board are closely monitoring her condition at the CCU.
A member of the medical board said, “Madam has pneumonia. Treatment is ongoing. Due to multiple health complications, it is not possible to administer all treatments simultaneously. There are risks. Various tests have been conducted, and the reports show mixed results—some good, some concerning.”
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital around 8 pm on Sunday. She is receiving treatment under the supervision of cardiologist Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, remain in constant communication with the doctors from London. Syeda Shamila Rahman, wife of the late Arafat Rahman Koko, is present at the hospital.
Khaleda Zia has requested prayers from the people of the country for her recovery.
