They went to the state guest house Jamuna at 5:20 pm on Monday (January 19).
Led by National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam, the meeting was attended by NCP Central Election Steering Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Secretary Monira Sharmin, and Legal Assistance Subcommittee Head Zahirul Islam Musa.
At the meeting, NCP leaders expressed their observations and various concerns regarding the elections.
They said that NCP leaders and activists from all walks of life are campaigning for a yes vote in the referendum.
NCP leaders drew the attention of the Chief Advisor to several election-related issues and urged the government to be vocal about ensuring a level playing field in the elections.
The chief advisor said that any complaints and suggestions related to the election will be immediately reported to the government. The government will take whatever action it can take. Measures will be taken to ensure that no one violates the law.
He said, "The field administration has been reshuffled through lottery to ensure impartiality. There is no scope for bias in this election. This election is the election to decide the fate of the country. This election is the election to change the country. This election must be fair."
The chief advisor said that most of the centers will be brought under the scope of CCTV cameras by January.
He also said that the officers in charge of the centers where there is a risk will have body cameras. All these will be monitored from the control room.
Stating that the government is campaigning legally for a yes vote in the referendum, the chief advisor said, "We are trying to explain to the people why it is necessary to vote yes in the referendum, what will happen if they vote yes. We have also called on all political parties in this regard."
He said, "It is the responsibility of all of us - the government, the Election Commission, political parties - to ensure that this year's elections are held in a fair and festive atmosphere. I seek the cooperation of all political parties in this regard."
Cultural Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui and Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmed Tayyab were present at the time.
