Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) has witnessed a landslide victory by the Sampreeti Students’ Alliance, a panel backed by Islami Chhatra Shibir. The alliance secured 24 out of the 26 posts, including both the Vice President (VP) and General Secretary (GS) positions.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Monir Uddin announced the results early Thursday (October 16), stating that the election was held in a peaceful and competitive environment. He added that the participation of candidates and voters turned the campus into a festive atmosphere.

From the Shibir-backed panel, Md. Ibrahim Hossain Rony was elected Vice President (VP), while Saeed Bin Habib won the post of General Secretary (GS).

Outside this panel, Ayubur Rahman Taufiq, a Chhatra Dal-backed candidate, won the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) post, and Tamanna Mahbub Preeti, an independent candidate, was elected Assistant Sports and Games Secretary.

Rony, a student from the Department of History (2017–18 session), received 7,983 votes, defeating his nearest rival Sajjad Hossain Hridoy of Chhatra Dal, who got 4,374 votes.
Habib, also from the Department of History (2019–20 session), secured 8,031 votes, while his Chhatra Dal rival Md. Shafayat polled 2,734 votes.

  • Mahbubur Rahman – Science & ICT Secretary
  • Nahima Akter Deepa – Female Students’ Welfare Secretary
  • Jannatul Ferdous Rita – Assistant Female Students’ Welfare Secretary
  • Afnan Hasan Imra – Health Secretary
  • Monayem Sharif – Freedom Fighters & Democratic Movements Secretary
  • Mehedi Hasan Sohan – Career Development & International Affairs Secretary
  • Ishaq Bhuiyan – Communication & Accommodation Secretary
  • Obaidul Salman – Assistant Communication & Accommodation Secretary
  • Fazle Rabbi Tawhid – Law & Human Rights Secretary
  • Masum Billah – Library & Cafeteria Secretary

The five elected Executive Members from the same panel are Jannatul Ferdous Sanjida, Salman Sakib, Akash Das, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, and Adnan Sharif.

The voting took place on Wednesday (October 15) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. using ballot papers. The votes were counted with the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) system and displayed live on 14 LED screens across the campus.
