The results of 38 constituencies of the central students’ union were officially announced by Election Commissioner Professor Dr Kaniz Fatima Kakoli at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday (January 7).

According to the published results, Riazul Islam of the Adhamya Jabian Oikya panel won the VP post with 5,564 votes. His nearest rival, AKM Rakib of the Chhatra Dal-backed Oikyabuddha Nirvik Jabian panel, secured 4,688 votes, leaving a margin of 880 votes.

In the race for the general secretary post, Shibir-backed candidate Abdul Alim Arif received 5,470 votes, while his closest competitor, Khadijatul Kubra of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel, obtained 2,203 votes. Abdul Alim Arif won the position with a decisive lead of 3,267 votes.

For the assistant general secretary post, Masud Rana of the Adhamya Jabian Oikya panel secured 5,002 votes. His nearest rival, BM Atiqur Tanzil of the Chhatra Dal-backed Oikya Nirvik Jabian panel, received 3,868 votes.

The results indicate a clear mandate in favor of the Shibir-backed panel in the JOCSU elections.
