JOCSU elections: Shibir leads in top three positions in 31 constituencies

The counting of votes for 31 out of 39 centres in the Jagannath University Central Students' Union (JCSU) elections has been completed. According to the results, Shibir-backed panel candidates are ahead in most of the posts, including VP-GS-AGS.

The latest results of the Economics Department show that Shibir's Md. Riazul Islam got 177 votes for the VP post. In this center, AKM Rakib, the university president of Chhatra Odhikar, supported by Chhatra Dal, got 133 votes.

For the GS post, Shibir's Abdul Alim Arif received 170 votes, while Maulana Bhashani Brigade's Ivan Tasrif received 58 votes. For the AGS post, Masud Rana received 148 votes, while Chhatra Dal's Tanzil received 131 votes.

In the results announced by the History Department, Md. Riazul Islam got 188 votes for the VP post and AKM Rakib got 152 votes. For the GS post, Abdul Alim Arif got 183 votes, Khadijatul Kubra got 86 votes. For the AGS post, Masud Rana got 83 votes, and the Chhatra Shakti-supported candidate Shahin Mia got 194 votes.

In the results of the Political Science Department, Md. Riazul Islam got 167 votes for the VP post, AKM Rakib got 147 votes. For the GS post, Abdul Alim Arif got 138 votes, Khadijatul Kubra got 163 votes. For the AGS post, Masud Rana got 158 votes and Tanzil got 103 votes.

In the Physics Department results, Md. Riazul Islam got 134 votes for the VP post, AKM Rakib got 97 votes. For the GS post, Abdul Alim Arif got 132 votes, Khadijatul Kubra got 41 votes. For the AGS post, Masud Rana got 213 votes, while Tanzil got 19 votes.

In the results of the Law Department, Md. Riazul Islam got 289 votes for the VP post and AKM Rakib got 120 votes. For the GS post, Abdul Alim Arif got 221 votes, Khadijatul Kubra got 52 votes. For the AGS post, Masud Rana got 167 votes, and Tanzil got 121 votes.

It is worth noting that the voting for the JOCSU elections was held peacefully from Tuesday morning, which ended at 3 pm. Later, the counting of votes was temporarily suspended due to various complications, but the counting resumed after midnight.
