Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mustafa Hasan confirmed the new schedule to reporters after the university’s 105th Special Syndicate meeting on Thursday (December 4).

He said, “As per the Syndicate’s decision, the date for the JOCSU elections has been finalized for December 30. The university will reopen on December 8, and the remaining tasks will be completed within that period. We are working to ensure a fair and transparent election.”

The Election Commission has already issued the revised timetable for the JOCSU Elections 2025.

According to the revised schedule, the candidates will undergo dope tests on December 9 and 10 (Tuesday and Wednesday). The final list of candidates will be published on December 11 (Thursday). Nominations can be withdrawn on December 13 and 14 (Saturday and Sunday) from 9 am to 3 pm. The list of withdrawn candidates will be published on the same day, December 14. The election campaign will continue for a total of 13 days from December 15 to 27. Voting will be held on December 30 (Tuesday), the counting of votes will be done on the same day after the voting, and the results will be announced on December 30 or 31.

Earlier, the university was declared closed from November 23 to 27 due to fears following an earthquake and demands made by students. Later, online classes were conducted from November 30 to December 4.

During this period, the JOCSU Election Commission suspended several key election activities, including dope tests and the publication of the final list of candidates, which have now been rescheduled under the new timetable.
