He made these remarks in the closing speech of the day-long 'Policy Summit 2026' organized by Jamaat at the ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Tuesday (January 20).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, 'In the past, the country was looted and eaten to death. We have got a skeleton. We will move forward with that skeleton. Skeleton Bangladesh will be turned into a living Bangladesh.' He stated that although dictatorship has departed, 'dictatorship' has not yet been eradicated from the country and announced that the fight to remove it would continue.
Stressing the role of expatriates in the development of the country, the Jamaat Amir said, "Whenever we go abroad, we say that we will have two remittances - one financial and the other intellectual. We need intellectual remittances. I want to extend my arms and embrace you. Please come back to the country." At the event, he thanked the researchers, economists and political scientists who came from the country and abroad.
The Jamaat Ameer highlighted two main goals in his speech. First, to ensure an education system based on ethics and professionalism from primary level to university and second, to establish social justice in all fields. He said, 'No one should be seen as a person in the field of justice. Equal justice must be ensured for all. If the state gives importance to these two issues, all other achievements are possible.'
Expressing his commitment to building a clean and peaceful Bangladesh for the next generation, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Bangladesh was burdened by corruption and misrule. We want to pull the country out of that chapter."
Stating that Jamaat ministers and MPs will avoid luxuries if they come to power, he said, "We will only accept those privileges that are legitimate and not those that we do not accept. We do not do politics for the world. If a little smile appears in the corners of the people's eyes, that will be our success."
The Policy Summit was attended by ambassadors of various countries, top leaders of political parties, intellectuals, academicians and journalists. On behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, Nayeb-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Mu. Taher, Maulana A.N.M. Shamsul Islam and Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar along with members of the Central Executive Council were present.
