He made the remarks on Saturday (November 29) afternoon at the award ceremony of the Ruposhi Bangla Photography Exhibition and Competition-2025, organized by the Bangladesh Photojournalist Association.
Mirza Abbas said, “I have always been cautious about prison authorities. Because slow poison is given in prisons. An Indian journalist once came to Dhaka. When he met me, he said, ‘What are we talking about? He won’t live for two years.’ I asked why. He said it was designed that way—that he would die slowly. By the grace of Allah, he is still alive. We pray for his recovery.”
Speaking about Khaleda Zia’s health, he added, “I went to see the leader at 1 am last night. I stayed for about an hour. The update I received today is that she is better than before. I pray to Allah for her complete recovery.”
Comments on Upcoming Elections
Regarding the national elections, Mirza Abbas said, “Those who have been plotting from outside the country have occupied Bangladesh for years. They have completely destroyed the country. Now they are abroad saying that elections cannot be held without the Awami League. Didn’t you hold elections without the BNP? Elections will take place in Bangladesh. They will be held this February—there is no doubt about that.”
