He made the remarks while addressing a polling station representatives’ conference for the Sylhet-4, Sylhet-5, and Sylhet-6 parliamentary constituencies as the chief guest on Thursday (November 6) afternoon.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Although the nation was freed from fascism through the mass uprising of students and the public, conspiracies have not ended. The people now want real change, and Jamaat will work to meet their expectations. If Jamaat is given the responsibility to lead the country through the people’s mandate, the nation will enjoy the blessings of Islam, Insha Allah. Everyone must continue working with that goal in mind.”
He acknowledged that obstacles might arise during the election period but urged members not to lose courage. “Do not panic when faced with challenges. We will move forward with full trust in Allah. Jamaat will make sacrifices in seat sharing for the greater interest of the nation and will act responsibly. All party members must nurture a spirit of sacrifice,” he said.
Highlighting past political experiences, Dr. Rahman stated, “Previous rulers engaged in corruption and plundering but did nothing meaningful for the welfare of the people. However, during the former four-party alliance government, our two ministers performed their duties with honesty and integrity corruption could not touch them.”
He alleged that conspiracies against Islam and the Islamic movement continue, adding, “We must confront these conspiracies with faith in Allah. Our national leaders have sacrificed their lives for the country and Islam. May Allah accept their martyrdom, Ameen.”
The Jamaat chief also advised his followers to remain disciplined and composed, saying, “Avoid emotional statements and unnecessary debates. Use your time productively. Do not be discouraged by criticism. If someone makes a mistake, they should apologize without hesitation. Workers of the Islamic movement must always act with humility.”
The conference was presided over by Jamaat’s Central Majlish-e-Shura member, District Ameer, and Sylhet-1 MP candidate Maulana Habibur Rahman, and was moderated by District Assistant Secretary Mashuk Ahmed.
Among the special guests were Jamaat Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair; Central Executive Council member, Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer, and Sylhet-6 MP candidate Muhammad Selim Uddin; and Central Working Council member and Sylhet Metropolitan Ameer Muhammad Fakhrul Islam.
