The statement was issued by the interim government on Saturday night (October 18), following a series of devastating fires in Dhaka and other regions that have raised widespread public concern.

“The interim government is deeply aware of the public concern caused by the recent series of fires in different parts of the country,” the statement read. “We assure all citizens that security agencies are investigating each incident thoroughly and taking utmost precautions to protect people’s lives and property.”

It further emphasized that no opportunity will be given to disrupt public life or the political process through criminal activity or incitement. “If any credible evidence of sabotage or arson is found, the government will take immediate and firm action,” the statement added.

The government also warned that any attempt to create panic or division among the public through acts of arson would fail. “If these incidents prove to be deliberate acts of sabotage meant to instill fear or chaos, they will only succeed if we allow fear to overcome our judgment and determination,” the statement said.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s resilience, the government noted that the country had faced and overcome many crises before. “We will confront any threat to our democratic transition with unity, restraint, and determination. We have nothing to fear,” it added.

The statement came amid ongoing investigations into three major fires that broke out within just five days, including the airport cargo fire, the Mirpur chemical warehouse blaze, and the Chattogram EPZ factory fire.
