The figures were released in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the DGHS.

According to the notification, between 8 a.m. Monday (October 20) and 8 a.m. Tuesday (October 21), the highest number of new dengue patients 277 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka Metropolitan areas. Outside the capital, 126 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 114 in Chattogram, 41 in Khulna, 124 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation area), 46 in Mymensingh, 40 in Rajshahi, 41 in Rangpur, and 5 in Sylhet division.

The release added that three deaths were reported in Dhaka South City and one in Barishal, raising the total number of dengue-related deaths this year to 253.

So far in 2025, the total number of dengue cases across the country has reached 61,605, the DGHS report said.

For comparison, during 2024, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths, marking one of the deadliest years in recent history.

Health officials have urged citizens to remain alert and to take immediate measures to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, warning that the risk of infection remains high due to favorable weather conditions for Aedes mosquito breeding.
