“The youth of the country are not getting an open environment to develop their leadership,” Golam Parwar said. “They are being restricted from all sides. The youth could not even exercise their voting rights in the last three national elections. Now is the time for everyone to unite and work together for the welfare of the nation.”
He made the remarks while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Night Festival Football Tournament organized by the West Shiromani Young Society under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in Khulna on Saturday.
Highlighting the crucial role of the youth in nation-building, the Jamaat leader said, “The youth are the driving force behind the development of the country and the state, yet they are the most neglected segment of society. The government has made no significant effort to nurture their potential. Instead, all systems are designed to destroy their talents. Even those who strive to build themselves face barriers to progress unless they show blind loyalty to the ruling party.”
He further said, “Freedom of speech the greatest right of a citizen is being suppressed. People who stand for truth and justice are facing false charges and humiliation.”
Praising the Young Society for arranging the football tournament to engage youth in positive activities, Parwar said such initiatives help keep young people away from drugs and violence. He assured his continued support for the organization’s activities in the future.
Reflecting on the country’s state after 54 years of independence, Golam Parwar noted that Bangladesh has yet to achieve the desired peace and development. “Unemployment, terrorism, drugs, money laundering, and pornography have driven the youth toward depression and uncertainty,” he said. “To overcome these challenges, we must build a welfare state based on the noble ideals of Islam.”
He urged the young generation to unite in working for lasting social change, saying, “If we follow the principles and values of Islam, we can build a prosperous and beautiful future.”
Calling upon the youth to study the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he added, “Learning from his life ensures success. Understanding the Prophet’s philosophy is essential to raise awareness about human rights.”
Mia Golam Parwar also said that Jamaat-e-Islami has been working tirelessly to establish an ideal youth society. “Youth have always played a leading role in upholding Islam and solving national problems throughout history. Without their contribution, no development is sustainable,” he stated. “The main reason for the lack of lasting development is the absence of honest and competent leadership.”
Earlier in the day, Golam Parwar attended a women’s rally organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in Gilatola Ward No. 5 under Khanjahan Ali Police Station. The meeting was presided over by Ward President Sarwar Hossain Nazrul and attended by several Jamaat leaders, including Khulna District Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Professor Mia Golam Quddus, Advocate Abu Yusuf Molla, and others.
The Night Festival Football Tournament final saw Dream IT defeat Galaxy of Shiromani 2–1 in a tiebreaker.
