With temperatures soaring to unprecedented heigh, the city has become a furnace, testing the resilience of its residents and pushing the boundaries of endurance.
According to reports from the Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Air Base Meteorological Department, Jashore recently clinched the title of the hottest spot in the country, with the mercury peaking at a blistering 42.6 degrees Celsius.
This staggering figure not only underscores the severity of the heat but also serves as a grim reminder of the challenges posed by climate change.
The surge in temperature has been relentless, with each passing day bringing a new record.
Just three days prior, on April 18, Jashore and its neighbouring district Chuadanga jointly claimed the dubious honor of recording the highest temperature in the country at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
Yet, there was no respite in sight as the mercury continued its relentless ascent. By April 19, Jashore had soared to 41.2 degrees Celsius, while Chuadanga registered a sweltering 41.3 degrees Celsius. And on April 20, the temperature in Jessore peaked at a staggering 42.6 degrees Celsius, leaving residents grappling with the unforgiving heat.
