According to meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Farooq, winter is expected to set in across the northern region of Bangladesh from the second week of November.

Speaking to a private media outlet recently, Dr. Farooq said, “Winter will begin in the northern region from the second week of November, particularly in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, and Nilphamari districts. Gradually, the season will spread across the rest of the country. In Dhaka, winter is likely to begin in the first half of December.”

Weather experts anticipate that this year’s winter may be longer and colder than usual. They forecast moderate to severe cold waves between December and January, with temperatures possibly dropping to 8–10°C in some parts of northwestern Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has also noted an increasing pattern of fog formation in the early mornings, signaling the end of the monsoon period and the transition to the winter season.
