According to Lt Col Fahad Mahmud, commandant of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-53, a BGB patrol team detained the group around 4:45 a.m. while they were wandering in the Masudpur area after being forced across the border by the BSF.
The group includes three men, seven women, and ten children. BGB officials stated that the individuals would be handed over to police following identity verification.
With this latest incident, the total number of people pushed into Chapainawabganj by the BSF has reached 45 since May 27. On May 27 and June 3, the BSF had earlier pushed 17 and eight people into the district, respectively.
Lt Col Fahad Mahmud confirmed that the BGB has officially protested the BSF's actions, calling them unacceptable and a breach of international norms.
