More than a hundred students from Prime Asia University clashed with police outside Gate No. 1 of the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The incident occurred around 2:30 pm as students gathered to demand a permanent campus and the resignation of the chairman of the university's board of trustees.

The protest began in front of the National Press Club, where students blocked the road for about 30 minutes before moving toward the Education Building. A four-member delegation of the students was scheduled to meet the education advisor at 4:30 pm to discuss their demands.

While the delegation was inside, tensions escalated between the students waiting outside and the police. Arguments soon turned into a confrontation, leading the police to resort to a lathicharge. To disperse the students and restore order, the police also fired two rounds of blank bullets.

The situation was eventually brought under control, but the incident has raised concerns about the handling of student protests and the broader demands for reforms at private universities in Bangladesh.
