According to officials, the fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. Two firefighting units from the Mohammadpur Fire Station rushed to the scene and began efforts to bring the blaze under control.
The information was confirmed by Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defense control room. She said, “Two units from Mohammadpur Fire Station reached the spot after receiving reports of a bus fire. They are working to extinguish the flames.”
However, authorities have not yet determined how the fire started or whether there were passengers inside the bus at the time of the incident.
Witnesses said that a group of seven to eight young people was walking past the vehicle when it suddenly caught fire. It remains unclear whether the incident was an act of sabotage or an accident.
Earlier in the day, two other buses belonging to Victor Paribahan caught fire in separate incidents in the capital’s Merul Badda and Shahjadpur areas. Investigations into all three incidents are underway.
