On the International Day for Women in Diplomacy, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Centre for Governance Studies, hosted a discussion with members of major political parties to highlight the challenges women face in politics and diplomacy at the Embassy’s Residence. The event, attended by diplomats and representatives from Western likeminded missions, featured speakers such as Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Chairman, BNP; Advocate Fahima Nasrin Munni, Assistant Secretary, International Affairs, BNP; Barrister Nasreen Sultana Mili, Joint General Secretary, AB Party; Dr. Tasnim Jara, Senior Joint Member Secretary, NCP; Syeda Nilima Dola, NCP Leader; Advocate Subikunnahar Munni, Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Division; and Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Chairman, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP). The discussion was facilitated by Professor Dr. Amena Mohsin, Former Chairperson, Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka.

The roundtable focused on the role of women in political diplomacy in Bangladesh, addressing systemic challenges and opportunities for reform in political party structures to enhance women's inclusion. Personal stories of resilience and cross-party solidarity were shared, underscoring the significance of mutual support among women leaders in fostering democratic values and inclusive governance.
