This feature allows users to receive suggestions from Facebook with their consent. Only if they consent will it send suggestions such as collages, birthday themes, revisions, or design changes based on the user's photos.
After being launched in a test mode, it has now reached the main version. The user will first see a message; which will read, 'Give Facebook permission to use the cloud to generate creative ideas from photos in your gallery.'
If you agree, the Facebook app will regularly send photos from the user's phone to the Meta cloud server, where artificial intelligence will analyze the photos and suggest various edits or posts.
Meta said the images will not be used for advertising or targeted campaigns, but if users edit or share the images on Facebook, the information may be used to improve their AI systems.
Meta's policy states that if users give permission, their photos can be analyzed for the presence of faces, people, objects, and the time and date of the photo. Based on this information, Meta is able to summarize the content of the photo, change the photo, or create new photos.
This means that even if you don't share photos, Meta can collect information about your lifestyle, relationships, or location.
According to technology experts, this will create a huge database of user behavior and preferences in Meta's hands, which will give them a further edge in the artificial intelligence competition.
Meta previously announced that it was using public posts, comments and photos on Facebook and Instagram to train its image recognition artificial intelligence. Users in the European Union had until May 27, 2025, to opt out of this process.
