Bulbul made these remarks on Saturday (September 20) afternoon while addressing a road meeting in Motijheel, Dhaka, organized as part of Jamaat-e-Islami’s mass communication campaign.

“The interim government’s announced deadline cannot be exceeded in any way. Although the government has declared that the national elections will be held in the first half of February next year, it has not yet clarified the election method. Elections must be held under the Proportional Representation (PR) system, with the July Charter given legal basis. The nation will not accept any delay,” Bulbul said.

He further cautioned, “People will not accept wasting time in the name of reforms. If the revolutionary government ignores the spirit of revolution, doubts will arise in the minds of the people. The government’s delay in legalizing the July Charter is exposing its weakness toward a particular party. Reforms and the trial of genocide must be ensured immediately through a presidential ordinance or referendum with a legal foundation.”

Terming any election without constitutional amendments a “farce,” the Jamaat leader said, “If an election is held under the same constitution that enabled Sheikh Hasina to become a fascist, then those who come to power will also become fascists in the same way. Those opposing constitutional reforms are, in fact, attempting to establish fascism.”

Highlighting the advantages of the PR system, Bulbul argued that it would prevent the use of black money, vote rigging, intimidation, and illegal occupation of polling centers. “One group opposes this system because they want to manipulate election results using muscle power. But the people, especially the youth and student community, will protect the polling stations and ensure the fair value of each vote,” he asserted.

Criticizing corrupt leadership, Bulbul said, “No matter how many slogans corrupt leaders chant, the country is not safe in their hands. When given the chance, they will act like poisonous snakes, turning Bangladesh into the world champion of corruption again. Coal cannot be washed clean, just as a corruption-free country cannot be built with corrupt leadership.” He called upon Jamaat’s leadership to work toward building a prosperous, corruption-free, and welfare-oriented state.

Following the road meeting, a mass outreach campaign was carried out in Motijheel under Bulbul’s leadership. Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Committee member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Nayeb-e-Amir, as well as Dhaka-8 parliamentary candidate Dr. Helal Uddin, Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Assistant Secretary of Metropolitan South Md. Shamsur Rahman, Motijheel South Thana Amir Motasim Billah, and Motijheel North Thana Amir Md. Shamsul Bari, among others, were present.
