The government is basically going to ban cloned, illegally imported, and smuggled phones.

Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, special assistant to the chief advisor, said in a recent Facebook post, "We will stop cloned, illegally imported and smuggled phones, God willing. No concessions will be made here."

He also said that the government is working on how to make the registration, de-registration and re-registration procedures easier for ordinary citizens.

Faiz Ahmed Tayyab gives advice on which SIM to use and which not to use when getting married. He advises against using cloned SIMs to avoid problems. He even advises to always keep the SIM registered in your name.

He said, "If the SIM you are using is in your own name, the registration process is very easy. Expatriates will bring one or two phones from outside for free as per the rules, register as per the rules. There will be no problem. NBR has different rules for more than two phones, you have to pay a fee, this is an old rule."

He also mentioned in the Facebook post that the government will do everything necessary to reduce the price of legitimate mobile phones, considering the customers' perspective.
