He made the declaration in a social media post on Tuesday (November 25), outlining several personal commitments to voters ahead of the upcoming national election.
Addressing the electorate, Shishir Monir said, “If, by your prayers and the grace of Allah, I win the upcoming election, I want to make a personal commitment today. I will not accept any government benefits in any form. If elected, I will allocate all allowances or facilities provided by the government for public welfare. I will not spend a single penny for my own benefit, nor for the benefit of my family or relatives—whether it is my honorarium or any other privilege.”
The former Secretary General of Islami Chhatra Shibir also emphasized transparency and ethical leadership. “I will never use any tax-free car, even though Members of Parliament are entitled to them. If elected with your prayers and Allah’s blessings, I will not take that privilege. I will not use administrative power for personal gain. Except for government duty, I will not accept any protocol. Whether in Dhaka or Sunamganj, my door will always remain open.”
He further pledged to prevent any misuse of influence by family members or relatives. “I will ensure they do not exert illegal influence. If I deviate from this promise, I must be held accountable. I will remain answerable to the people regarding the use of government funds,” he said.
