Time Digital Report: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said circulating photos and videos of party leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy having lunch at the DB office reflects Awami League's political bankruptcy.

Speaking at a human chain and protest in front of the party's Nayapaltan office today the BNP leader said, "Awami League knows nothing about etiquette. It is futile to expect courtesy from the Awami League."

He blasted the ruling party over some previous incidents of violence. "They beat up a deputy speaker of the regional council. During the Awami League's 73-day strike in 1996, they killed people using gunpowder."

Calling upon the BNP leaders and activists to get united, Fakhrul urged them to unseat the government. He demanded a general election under a neutral polls-time government.

Regarding Saturday's attack on Gayeshwar, Fakhrul said, "The government is afraid of BNP's public support. That's why they are trying to take a different approach. The incident of publishing photos and videos at the DB office is evidence of Awami League's political bankruptcy."

He said BNP leaders Gayeshwar and Amanullah Aman do not need to prove their patriotism.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that Swechchhasebak League and Jubo League leaders, wearing police uniforms, had attacked Gayeshwar.

Addressing a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan office earlier in the day, Fakhrul said a conspiracy is being hatched against BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman ahead of the upcoming general election.

"We fear that arrangements are being made to sentence Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in false cases," he said.

Fakhrul said these steps are aimed at removing Khaleda Zia, Tarique and all other patriotic political leaders from politics.
