The protest march started from Shantinagar Bazar on Tuesday (January 27) afternoon. Leaders and activists of 11 party alliances, including central leaders of the Jatiya Nagorik Party, participated in it.
Earlier, around 12 noon, Nasiruddin Patwari was present as a guest at a pitha festival at Habibullah Bahar College as part of a pre-scheduled program. He complained on Facebook that he was attacked by people in the name of Chhatra Dal, shouting slogans of "paddy sheaf".
Patwari wrote in his status, "Terrorists posing as students attacked me at Shantinagar Habibullah Bahar College. At that time, eggs, rotten water, bricks and stones were thrown and they shouted slogans of 'rice sheaf, rice sheaf'. Our protest march is going on."
Eyewitnesses said that during the mass communication, local Chhatra Dal leaders and activists arrived and started shouting slogans against Nasiruddin, "Bhuya Bhuya." At one point, a scuffle broke out between leaders and activists of both sides, which disrupted traffic in the area for a while.
Nasiruddin Patwari alleged that despite everyone having the right to campaign equally in a democratic election, our program was systematically obstructed. An attempt was made to attack me during this time.
