A murder case has been filed in connection with the death of Bangladesh Bank Assistant Director Dipanwita Biswas, who was hit by a brick on her head from an under-construction building in the capital’s Siddheshwari area on Wednesday night.

The deceased's husband, Tarun Biswas, filed the case against unknown persons at Ramna Model police station on Thursday.

Ramana Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Utpal Barua confirmed the matter.

The OC said: “A building is being constructed near the spot. An investigation is underway to confirm where the brick fell from. CCTV footage has been collected.”

The incident took place near Fakhruddin restaurant when the official was on her way home from Bangladesh Bank’s Sadarghat office around 8:30pm on Wednesday.

She suffered severe injuries when brick chips fell on her head from an unidentified building.

Locals took her to Dr Sirajul Islam Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
