Time Digital Report: The BCS General Education Association's central committee today announced a nationwide one-day work abstention on October 2 calling for sweeping reforms.
During a press conference at the Tangail Press Club, the association said education cadre officers of all departments and directorates, including government colleges and madrasas, would go on a complete strike for three consecutive days starting October 10 if their demands were not met.
The demands include the creation of new cadres and posts, promotions, the upgrading of pay scales, and the elimination of inter-cadre disparities.
In a written statement, they said, "Though we have been trying to draw the attention of the government for quite some time, the demands of the education cadre remain unfulfilled."
The teachers stated that most of these demands are not new.
Prof Mohammad Abdur Razzaque Khan, joint secretary general (Mymensingh division) of Central Committee of BCS General Education Association, its Organising Secretary Mohammad Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, and Shaheed Bhabani Prasad Saha Government College Principal Tahmina Jahan, spoke at the press conference.
