In the report, police said they arrested Ishtiaque following an order from the court yesterday. So, police appealed to the court to confine him in jail until the trial is completed.

The defence lawyer told the court that their client did not know about the case while eight other accused secured bail from different courts on different dates. So, the lawyer appealed to the court to grant bail to the accused under any terms.

Upon hearing both sides, the magistrate passed the bail order.

Yesterday, another Dhaka court accepted the supplementary charge sheet against nine people in the case.

The nine include Ishtiaque and Naimul Hasan Rasel, president of Mohammadpur unit of BCL.

The other accused are -- Firoz Mahmud, Mir Amzad Hossain Akash, Sazu Islam, Razibul Islam Razu, Shahidul Alam Khan Kajol, Siam and Oli Ahmed Jony -- are now on bail.

On August 4, 2018, some 30 unidentified miscreants attacked the car of Bernicat, who was about to leave the residence of Badiul Alam around 11:00pm after attending a courtesy dinner in her honour.

Six days later, Badiul Alam filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 10, 2018.

Following re-investigation, Investigation Officer Rajon Kumar Saha, an assistant commissioner of Detective Branch of DMP, pressed charges on September 19 to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, accusing Ishtiaque and eight others.

In the supplementary charge sheet, only Ishtiaque was shown as a fugitive accused.
