The announcement was made in a press release issued by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Propaganda and Media Department on Sunday (November 2) afternoon.

According to the statement, the party’s Chief Election Commissioner and Assistant Secretary General, Maulana ATM Masum, officially declared Dr. Shafiqur Rahman as the elected Ameer on Saturday night (November 1), following the completion of vote counting.

Voting for the party’s internal election was held from October 9 to October 25, with members across the country casting their ballots through a secret voting process. After the counting was completed, Dr. Rahman secured the highest number of votes, earning him another term as the party’s leader.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, a physician by profession, has been serving as Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer since December 2019. Under his leadership, the party has navigated significant political challenges, including restrictions on its registration and participation in national politics.
