The party made the remarks in a statement issued on Friday (January 16) by Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and head of its central propaganda and media department.
In the statement, Advocate Zubair said that comments made by Gazi Ataur Rahman at a press conference organized by Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Friday afternoon, in which he quoted a responsible leader of an organization from the Christian community, were not accurate. He said Jamaat-e-Islami clarified the issue immediately during its own press briefing.
Advocate Zubair also rejected Gazi Ataur Rahman’s claim that “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has deviated from Allah’s law and Islamic ideals,” describing the remark as unfounded and misleading. He alleged that such comments were intended to create confusion among the public.
He said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is an Islamic organization that operates in accordance with the ideals of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
Stating that Jamaat-e-Islami maintains political decorum, Advocate Zubair said the party interacts with all political groups on the basis of mutual respect and dignity and does not act outside accepted political norms.
He also urged Gazi Ataur Rahman to refrain from making statements that could create confusion among the public.
